If there is one thing about being off work that is truly great, it's getting to spend time with my husband every single day. I forgot how wonderful it was to visit with someone every evening. When I would work 3 nights in a row, it would leave us not seeing each other for 4 entire days, only to be followed up with 2 very different sleep schedules; this left us with even less time together! I do not take one meal for granted that I get to eat with him at night. It's the simple things in life that you miss the most when they're not there!
We're really enjoying having this time to spend together on a daily basis. We watch a movie together almost every night (the last 3 nights has been the Harry Potter series that I'm just now starting to understand), make cookies, go riding around the park, and just spend time being "the two of us" before we become three. :)
We had a great memorial day weekend. Monday night we went to mom and dad's new house for dinner with Mamaw and Aunt Betty. We had delicious ribs, baked beans, stuffed mushrooms, corn on the cob, and dessert. YUM. My smaller half and I were extremely, painfully stuffed.
Speaking of my smaller, and better, half--we're ready for him to be here! Of course, we want him to stay in mommy's incubator as long as possible, but mentally...we want him here with us! He's kicking me right now--he wants to be with us too. :)
We're putting the final touches on his room. I think all we lack is:
1. Painting & hanging up the wall letters (All we have now is r,e,w. They were out of Ds)
2. Buying a "D."
3. Hanging curtain rod. Buy and hang curtain.
4. Hanging shelf.
If any of these don't get done right away, I doubt Drew will notice when he gets here. ;) We have our last shower at church in less than 2 weeks. I don't know how we'll fit anymore clothes in his closet. It's PACKED. I guess I'm going to have to unhang his older clothes and just hang the ones he'll need during the first 6 months.
I wanted to end my post with a linking of scriptures from a book my mom gave me, "Hugs for New Moms." With any lifechanging event, especially when it cuts your finances in HALF, Satan tries to work at your mind and worry you, stealing your joy at the most awesome times. What a great reminder of his love and promises--
"I'll bless you and multiply your family, keeping My covenant of love with you. Don't let anxiety steal your joy; rather, tell Me about your worries and needs and thank Me in advance. As you pray, you'll find that My incomparable peace overshadows all of your problems and insecurities. Always be content with what you have, knowing that I'll never leave or abandon you. I'll supply everything you need, according to My endless riches in glory. Faithfully providing, Your Prince of Peace." -from Deut. 7:12-13, John 16:33, Phil 4:6-7, Hebrews 13:5, Phil 4:19
So glad you are doing so good! I understand about missing dinners together...I was so sad when Luke went to work this morning!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hold little Drew. And what a wonderful excerpt...very comforting!
Enjoy every minute!
love~
I love the name Drew!
ReplyDeleteThe first 6 months I was working, I worked 11am-11pm (actually more like midnight or later) 3 and 4 days during the week. It's not quite the same as night shift, but it was hard not seeing Brad for 4 days in a row.
I'm impressed with all you have done, even on bedrest! Good job!
Thank you for this post. I was looking for the "don't let anxiety steal your joy" verse this morning. Best wishes for a healthy finish to your pregnancy, great labor and delivery and healthy baby!
