As I sit here typing with toilet paper shoved up each nostril, I pray for the cure to the common cold to be discovered quickly...or at least the one for my viral strand. My house is a wreck with trashcans scattered everywhere, toilet paper rolls sitting on my living room table, and hand sanitizer everywhere you turn. Andrew and I make beautiful music blowing our noses, coughing, sneezing, and hacking. We could probably enter America's Got Talent and win by a landslide. Throughout the whole sickness ordeal, I've been praying Drew doesn't come down with the bug; my hands are so dry from all the hand sanitizer I use. This morning at 2:00 he woke up crying and refused to nurse (very abnormal) back to sleep. I thought, "Yep. I'm now the first time parent of a sick baby." But, I got up and walked him for 2-3 minutes and he went right back to sleep. Then this morning at 9:00 I noticed a slightly runny nose. Nothing since. I'm PRAYING he doesn't not get this nasty, disgusting bug.
In other (better) news, I'm am very much enjoying doing some Christmas shopping! This had a lot to do with my sweet family throwing me an early birthday party last week. I guess they thought I knew about it, but I honestly had no idea. It was loads of fun, and it reminds me once again why I love my family so much. I used some of my birthday money to buy three big frames to go above my bed. I'm either going to have pictures made or order some we had done when he was 2 weeks old to go in them. It's going to look great!
So all this shopping really got me into the Christmas spirit. Our tree is up, the mantle is decorated, and some gifts are even wrapped. Um, go me! Last year I really wasn't able to have fun wrapping presents and stuff for Christmas because I was too tired to be excited! I'd just found out I was pregnant and the ONLY thing I cared about doing was sleeping. The house could fall in around me without a second glance from me, as long as it didn't interrupt my nap. So, this year I'm making up for it.
And I wanted to spread a little holiday cheer...
Tomorrow is Drew's 5 month birthday, so expect a "birthday" post! Um, and a sidenote to that statement: the other day I forgot my son's birthday in front of Amanda and Erin. Yes, I told them his birthday was 7/7/08. I'm blaming it on the everlasting pregnancy brain.
OK...several things.
ReplyDelete1. Jonah had that sleeper Drew is wearing. Loved it then and love it now. Takes me back.
2. LOVE the red/white polka dot wrapping paper. I want a girl just so I can buy her frilly clothes and fun diaper bags with polka dots. That probably isn't the only reason I want a girl but definitely ranks up there.
3. Sorry you are feeling bad! That blows! (pun TOTALLY intended!)
Get better!! Sorry y'all are sick; I hope Drew doesn't catch it.
ReplyDeleteHe looks so cute in front of the tree. Thanks for the Xmas card, too. Yours will be out as soon as I get around to buying stamps.
The cold stuff has been going around here as well. Not fun!
ReplyDeleteHaving had a winter baby, I was paranoid about him getting sick. I washed and sanitized my hands like crazy, so they were horribly chapped and dry. The best thing for that is from The Body Shop. It's their hemp creme. Sounds funny, but it works wonders!
Enjoy this year when he'll look so cute in the Santa hat. Tate did last year, but I can't keep it on him for 2 seconds this year. :)
I've finally found someone else who shoves tissue up their nose!! Mark has always thought I was insane when I stuff my nose! I hate that you're sick. Hopefully, Drew will miss out on your bug. AND, I have the polka dot wrapping paper. Love Hobby Lobby!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the wrapping paper! I got it from Hobby Lobby--probably my favorite store-for good reasons such as that wrapping paper.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the well wishes, and I'll try to remember to pick up some of that hemp creme. Thanks!
