Best Birthday Gift Ever

And what is it you ask? A strong heartbeat of 180 from my baby bean!

All the OB nurses at work were saying my chances of finding a heartbeat at 10 weeks with a fetal doppler were slim to none...closer to none. Well, with the help of the good Lord, I found it! I wanted so badly for Andrew to be there! My first thought when I heard the loud whistling thumps was, "Well, hi sweet baby!" as if we were meeting for the first time. I ended up going back and listening 2 more times. It was so surreal and beautiful! I recorded it on my phone for Andrew to hear. I can't wait to let him listen! It was, by far, the most beautiful sound in the whole entire world.

Today is my birthday as well! The sweet people at work threw me and the doctor working last night a fabulous party with chili and homeade cornbread and chocolate desserts. Yummy! They're so sweet.

I have to remember to tell Kacie how smart her dog is...and pigheaded too. I had taken him out in the misty cold rain to pee when I got home. I walked alllll around the yard with him on the leash, untangling him an steering him clear of mud puddles. We got back inside and I let him loose. Guess what he did, first thing? That's right. Jumped on my clean duvet and sheets on MY bed! Um, no no. I told him to get down and he didn't...so I gave him a helpful push. He growled at me!! So then I turned back around and he was on the OTHER side of the bed. So I took him down and he growled at me again. Well, that got me upset thinking he was a little too big for his britches. So I shook my finger at him, explaining to him (as if he were 11 years old) that his feet were wet and my bed was clean and the two don't mix and if he got on the bed again I was going to spat his behind. Well, he looked really mad and wandered off while I finished washing my face. I came out and started looking for him and couldn't find him anywhere! I tried making the ice machine work (his favorite thing) and he still didn't come. I mean I was getting worried someone had sneaked in and stolen him! Then I found him...underneath my bed...just far enough that my fingertips could touch him. I use a playful voice calling his name. No go. I thought I might should apologize for being so harsh. After all, he just wanted a soft bed like I do. So I said, "I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, Oakley. I didn't mean to. Please forgive me and come out from under the bed. If you want me to, I'll give you a bath and you can sleep in the bed with me." Do you know what the booger did? Raised his tail and pooted in my face. I am so not kidding. Being the bigger woman that I am, I decided I would drag his flatulent butt out from under the bed...so I did...and he just looked at me. I reached down and hugged him. All of a sudden he got playful, as if he had forgiven me. Well, I felt terrible about my attitude with him so I gave him some Cheerios which he enjoyed way too much. Now his little feet are drying, awaiting my bed. So, Kacie, when you think your dog isn't understanding what you say, I am going to beg to differ. And when you go apologizing and he's being stubborn, make sure you're at his face and not the opposite end.

OK, I realize this is the 5th time I've now commented on this post (but the 4th time wouldn't have been neccessary had something not gone wrong to cause the 2nd and 3rd time) . . . .

But, I'm just swinging by to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
