A Glorious Day!

I really hadn't expected much aside from our ultrasound from our doctor's visit today, but I left feeling so excited about this incredible change for our family.

First of all, our little gummy bear is doing wonderfully!

S/he was kicking and waving to me from that screen. I couldn't believe how much those emotions of "I can't wait to see this baby and hold it!" came flooding back to me!

Secondly, the hematoma is absorbing beautifully! It went from being graded as a 15% to a 5% which the ultrasound tech said is perfect. My doctor informed me that the bedrest order which had been previously written was really for the doc's peace of mind, not for myself! So I'm off that order which made me feel better that people won't be fussing at me when I lift something heavier than my arm. ;) (Just kidding--I love all of you and am THANKFUL that people are that concerned with my wellbeing. All in good fun!)

I did all that fun stuff like get my blood drawn, etc and then got to sit and talk with Dr. Thompson. I wasn't sure I could like anyone as much as I liked my OB in 2008, Dr. Harper, but I love Dr. Thompson equally as much! She sat and talked with me for 15 minutes about whatever we came up with. We somehow got onto the topic of a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), and I was interested in what she had to say about it. (I had a Csection with Drew since he wasn't "head down.") From what I'd understood, most hospitals don't like doing VBACs for several reasons. However, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists states, "...that a VBAC is safer than repeat cesarean and VBAC with more than one previous cesarean does not pose any increased risk." Of course we will have a lot of educating and praying to do over this subject, but it was something I was really glad to hear my doctor supports!

After seeing our sweet baby on the ultrasound and discussing delivery options today, this whole pregnancy seems so much more real, and I'm just that much more excited!

Thank you for all of your prayers and sweet comments/notes/emails I've received over the last few weeks. Our loving God has heard them and has answered us as we had hoped! We'll continue to pray for a healthy, full term baby! (And after s/he is here safely, we'll pray s/he sleeps really well!!)

yay!! what a fun time for you!

i'll be praying you get the delivery method that you want. i know its a tough decision. i pretty much had to have a repeat csection b/c of my pre-eclampsia situation. but let me just tell you, its not that bad. you actually heal quicker the 2nd time.

and i'll definitely be praying that little gummy bear will sleep for you!! that is VIP!!!
