Happy 21 Months, Drew!

I'm late posting your monthly update for the first time! I'm wondering if that will be a sign of things to come in later months when I'm juggling two of you little stinkers in this house!

You are coming along beautifully with your speech this month. You're still trying to say new words although it's not as if you will repeat just anything- only what you want to! You say: apple, night night, bye bye, papaw, mamaw, daddy, andrew, audra, ball (sometimes), egg, more, please, and thanks. You're working on "all done" but the majority of people wouldn't know what you are saying.

While Usbourne books are pricey, they are your favorites! We were very blessed when Grammy gave us several because you have read so many of them until they are literally falling apart. The Noisy Animals book is your favorite! You love making noises for the cow, sheep, horse, cat, dog, frog, donkey, duck, etc. My favorite is your horse noise....SO precious!

You really like finding "alike" things. When we look at a page of a book that has lots of pictures on it, you find the similar items and point them out: balls, apples, etc. Whenever you see a bunny rabbit in a book or on TV, you point to our clay rabbit sitting on the mantle. When you take the oven mitts out of the drawer, a lot of times you'll pick them back up in matching pairs. Smart boy, I tell you!

If you like anything in this world, it's the outdoors. When I ask, "Do you want to go outside?" you get SO excited that you start running around in circles and spinning until you fall down. You almost forget why you're so excited in the first place! You will race to find your shoes, head out the door, and bang on the garage to signal that you want your toys. You play with water puddles, leaves, the water hose, the push car, the broom, your tractor, your lawn mower, the ball, sidewalk chalk, and the plants. You love to mow the grass with Daddy. In fact, it's the only time we can get you to sit still for more than a minute. If you are ever in a bad mood, going outside is the way to fix the situation! The only problem lies with getting you back inside....yikes! You've been known to skip meals in order to stay outside. This summer should make for a fun (and hot!) time!

You have become quite the little climber. I find you in the bar-height kitchen chairs nearly every day attempting to pour out the salt or pepper. You climbed onto the jacuzzi the other day to bang on the shower while Daddy was showering. You climb into the dining room chairs now which means you can reach all of my junk that's stashed on the table! You LOVE stairs. Any stairs. Up and down. Up and down. It wears me out!

To sum you up, I'd say you are: happy, sometimes shy in new situations, ACTIVE, busy, fun, cranky at bedtime, a picky eater, learning to share, a milk lover, hater of diaper changes, not ready to begin potty training, a bathtime lover, and so very sweet! You can definitely test my patience at times, but you're a pretty quick learner. The corner still works well for you for most situations when you're misbehaving. Disciplining you sometimes breaks my heart, but it's what God wants us to do...so we do it!

Little boy, you are FUN! And you leave me SO tired at night from your constant playing! But being your mommy is my greatest joy in life. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Oh, can I add something? Drew is so happy when he wakes up in the morning! Quiet but his little eyes are sparkling and has the sweetest smile!

Thanks for the update. I love reading what he's like since I still haven't gotten to meet him.

Hil--so true! I guess I didn't realize that it was out of the ordinary until I read someone's blog a few days ago who stated her daughter cried every time she woke up. Drew is very happy in the mornings and ready to go!

Lori--I feel the same way about Abi's updates! Glad we have this venue to share our kids' lives!
