We Beat the Heat

This past weekend we visited the Delta to spend time with Andrew's mom. God blessed us with a little cooler temperatures (mid 90s instead of 100s!), so we could actually enjoy being outside. Thankfully, there are two sweet families nearby with pools so we took advantage of them (the pools, not the families) .

If Drew sprouts gills any day now, I will not be surprised. He jumped straight in the water over and over again. He went down the big slide. He floated on his back. You name it...he was there!

I would like to add that after an entire day of being outside with friends and family, we got home that night where Andrew said to me, "Please get that Oreo out of your teeth. It's been there all day and is really bugging me." If you blow this picture up largely enough, you will see the evidence that Andrew decided not to tell me about until it "bugged him" enough. Husband of the year--GONE! ;)

If a lack of pool toys is your problem, just add shoes. Instant fix.

While we were there I got Miss Hannah's crib skirt made with lots of help from Ms. Debbie. Woo hoo! I still need to work on the curtain which is going to take some time measuring and sewing...nothing too difficult I don't think. As soon as I charge my camera battery, I'll take a picture of the bedskirt and post it. I'm in love!

Since we got home, we've been doing a lot of this:

Lying around! I did finally get some housework done today with help from Drew. No, seriously, he did help me at times. I was surprised too. ;)

I have an appointment with my cardiologist this Thursday which I expect nothing to come of, but we shall see! I'm also hitting up a consignment sale on Thursday morning with my mom--super pumped about that! We're gonna need those newborn girl clothes since I can't borrow my niece's clothes....did you hear? They're having another girl!!! Sooo excited!!!

A Break from the Ordinary!

We headed to Greenville this past weekend to spend time with Andrew's mom and celebrate her birthday. It was really nice to do something out of the ordinary. We played at the church's playground on Saturday when God blessed us with 65 degree, sunny weather. What a nice day!

We also visited our favorite firefighter, Trey, while we were in town. He let Drew try on his hat and sit on his truck!

Then we got to celebrate Grammy's 59th birthday!

Happy Birthday to the world's greatest Grammy! We love you!

Andrew got to have a little country boy fun while we were there. He probably needs to do this more...

While Andrew waded through disgusting waters, I made Drew a new jon jon with a lot of help from Ms. Debbie. Doesn't it look simple and easy? Well, you would be wrong. It took me about 5-6 hours to make this. Ms. Debbie assures me I'll get faster with practice. At 5-6 hours/project, I'm not sure I'll be making TOO many more!

I think I'm going to get an appliqued monkey on the front. What do you think?

Well, Veggie Tales is circling for its second cycle this morning, so I better run! Hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did!

Halloween 2009 & Chuck E Cheese

I know I'm the last breathing blogger who hasn't finished blogging about Halloween yet, but I can't rest until I get it written down. (Okay, that's a lie. I've slept fine.)

On Halloween night we got the pleasure of heading to our neighbor's Halloween party/cookoff (Hi, Daphne!) As Andrew's mom, Debbie, and I were getting Drew ready for the party, Andrew decided it was imperative that our pumpkin get carved before the trick or treaters came to our house (where we would not even be located...).

The party started at 5. At 4:45, Andrew started carving his elaborate Scooby Doo Pumpkin. Ms. Debbie & I headed to the party sans Andrew at 5:30pm to enjoy DELICIOUS potato soup. Even picky little Drew partook in the meal. Andrew showed up about an hour later with a proud display of Scooby Doo Pumpkin iPhone photos. (Wish I had a picture to post. It turned out great!) *sigh* Husbands. Cant' live with 'em. Can't live without 'em. ;) (Just kidding, babe--love you!)

Instead of trick or treating this year, we decided to hit up Chuck E Cheese for the first time. Are we crazy or what? We thought it would be uncrowded, but we were wrong! Drew had a lot of fun, but mainly stuck to any game with a steering wheel.

Walking into a place like Chuck E Cheese with 200 sets of dirty hands and prevalent strains of the flu give me the chills. Good thing I had my handy dandy Lysol spray! Yep. I sprayed every one of those toys with Lysol before I let Drew touch them. Oh, I got laughs, but you know what? He didn't get sick from there, so it was worth the stares!

My verdict: we had fun, but Drew probably would have had just as much fun playing in our truck with the steering wheel. Andrew, however, got our money's worth. He had a BALL. I actually went to find him after 10-15 minutes of him being gone. Found him right where I suspected: the deer hunting game. Are we surprised? ;)
