Over at RocksInMyDryer readers are posting a variety of problems hoping other readers will be able to help. Well, here's my dilemma that I've posted more than once on here: LEAKY DIAPERS! Our little boy is 8 weeks old and wets out his diaper at least once or twice daily-sometimes up to 5 times a day! Here's the catch: it's when we lay him on his back that he pees everywhere! We can hold him for an hour while he's sleeping, and as soon as we lay him in the crib, he pees. It comes out the side and out the back of the diaper, sometimes soaking him up to his hair! Ick! Needless to say, this cuts his naps way short and sends mommy and daddy into a frenzy!
So far we've:
1. Changed brands from Huggies to Pampers
2. Changed sizes from Swaddlers to Cruisers
3. Pointed the shooter down
4. Put him on his side instead of his back
Nothing works! Please tell me SOMEONE out there has had this problem and has a solution! We're going to continue to try other brands. I've heard White Cloud from Wal-Mart works pretty well. Any other suggestions!

Sorry, I don't have any "new" suggestions. I was going to suggest trying a different brand. I was loyal to a different brand with each of my boys. Also, I was going to suggest that you have the right size for his weight. If nothing else, try putting a pair of the plastic underwear things over the diaper. It might cut down on the amount of pee that leaks out.

I would keep trying other brands--for a different fit? We've had good success with both the Target store brand and White Cloud from Wal-Mart.
Some kids just leak more than others!
I heard a tip for quick crib changes (pertaining to throwing up, but would work the same for leaks), layer a bed pad with a sheet, another bed pad, another sheet, etc. That way you can just zip off the top 2 wet layers and it's ready to go underneath. :)
My son didn't have that problem when he was that young...although I have noticed as he's gotten older that when the diaper is starting to get to small (i.e. he's growing) that he tends to leak more. So do the diapers fit really well?
I'm no expert but I had 2 boys and it sounds to me like your sons diapers don't fit. They're either too big or too small. Check the weight recommendations on the packaging. We found nothing worked better for us than Pampers Cruisers, but we made sure the tabs touched each other when the diaper was fastened.
We did need to use a special OverNight diaper for a time because our second son always wanted milk before bed and then of course went to sleep with a full bladder. For now, I'd say just check the fit. Good Luck and Here's to Less Laundry! :o) Whitney
You may not like the suggestion, but the only solution that has worked for us (and I have NEVER had a leak since switching) is using cloth diapers. I know that's probably the last thing you wanted to hear with a month old baby who goes through 16 diapers a day, but seriously, going to cloth has changed my life in so many good ways! I am so converted I now make and sell them myself.

Warner leaked a lot too when he was baby - don't think it was every day though! But I started using Huggies Supreme and that did the trick. They are a little pricy, but I didn't mind since it meant less changing and washing.
There is a pampers in between swaddlers and cruisers. I think it's "baby". The packaging is the same and is a little confusing. I meant to get cruisers for my 17 month old and got home with the baby ones and they leaked. The weight is the same I guess if you have a baby who is not 'cruising' ...~Amanda
With my first two I used a diaper service and loved it! Cloth absorbs so much better and since I didn't have to rinse or wash them it was easy to use!
Cloth didn't work for #3 though and I had to experiment until I found a brand (Luvs) that fit him better.

Well, I had the same problem!
I switched back and forth and I even tried CLOTH....I do not recommend it. For me there was too much between changing more often than usual and rashes can appear, especially on boys. I even bought the organic highly recommended kind. Anyway, what I have found is my son's torso is a bit longer than the norm. So, I have to go up one in size to make sure they fit well. I go back and forth depending on his stage in life. So far pampers worked for me. Just make sure you go up in a size. They need to really fit him well. Boys have a tendency to leak out =0)...email me!!!
This may sound crazy, but maybe at nap time you should "double bag" him. Buy your regular diapers plus some of the next size up. Put the bigger diaper on over the smaller diaper right as you put him down to sleep. And make sure they're both on nice and tight.
There is also something known as a Diaper Doubler that you might try.
Who knows? It's worth a shot.

I second the double diaper suggestion: I have two boys. The 9 yo only used Pampers, the 2 yo is still in Huggies. Leakage was a problem regardless of brand or size until I started using an "outer diaper" (one size up). My baby is now in the biggest size made, so it doesn't work for me now, but it was great when I needed it!
I had a girl, but it sounds like the fit. Keep trying different brands and sizes and make sure you are fastening them tight enough. Hard to determine when we can't see how the diaper fits.
Have you tried using a twisty-tie on the shooter?
(Sorry! I had to! As you can see, I'm otherwise useless on this topic!)
I suggested duck tape around the waist and legs. However, Audra and Drew didn't like that to much. :)
Thanks for all the comments! He was in Swaddlers which fit for his weight, but they didn't hold. THen we tried the Huggies brand that fit his weight. Neither worked so we bumped him up to Cruisers even though they're a bit big. Still peeing out, though not as often. I'll continue to look around and try other brands! I think cloth diapering is just going to be too much work for us right now. Heavens, I can't manage to keep my husband's underwear clean at just one pair a day!
And, Wade, I mentioned the twisty tie to Drew and he screamed. Sorry. Your idea got vetoed. HA!

Hi. its amy vergara and im sending this from my phone, so please excuse the lower case and no punctuation. anyway, this sounds crazy but place kotex pads around the waste part of the diaper, not the really thick ones. it will trap the pee and it stays in place. good luck .
Switching to cloth did the trick for us. I know it sounds crazy... if I had known how easy they are, I would have used them from the beginning. My fave: Bum Genius brand.
Huggies ALWAYS leaked when we used them. We've had pretty good success with the Pampers brand. Luvs leaked for us too. Good luck finding a brand that works for you! Maybe you'll get lucky, and one of those cheap store brands will work for you (and you'll save a ton of $$)!
